The single column tie

The single column tie is the basic building block or 'ingredient' of shibari. Most ties are incorporate at least one and some are more or less entirely built from single column ties or their variants. By variants, I mean they might be closed in a different way, e.g. a friction, or be modified, e.g. a double column tie.

Given the importance of this tie as a key ingredient and the fact that it is likely to be the first tie you perform on anybody, you really need to practice it till it becomes second nature.

What difference does the direction of building wraps make?
