The secrets of floor-work: Part I

An insight into the hidden techniques (urawaza / 裏技,) of Yukimura Haruki's Kemono Shibari / 獣縛りthat will transform the effect of your tying

The secrets of floor-work: Part I

Kemono shibari / 獣縛り

In this tutorial, you will discover that a great rope session, like good sex, is all about how you do it, not what you do. It does not involve any complex ties, so is equally suitable for complete beginners through to advanced practitioners. Given that a personal lesson lasting as long as this tutorial would cost over $300, never mind the expense of your trip to Japan, it's a total bargain. It's as close to a private lesson as you can get in the comfort of your own home and, with the advantage of unlimited replays. Here are some comments left by students enrolled in this course:

"What an awesome resource. Those two videos are so filled with knowledge I had to keep rewinding them to really absorb it. I think I'll re-watch them at least a dozen of times."

"Thank you Osada Steve for sharing this lesson, the amount of detail revealed was very very special and incredibly vast, hope I can learn directly from you in the future, and thank you Bruce for the content you keep putting on."

"What's the next workshop going to be about? This Newaza one is completely mind blowing"

Osada Steve has around 30 years experience, so has been involved in kinbaku when most of today's teachers were still learning to tie their shoe-laces and has studied under Yukimura Haruki, the acknowledged grand-master of floor-work, so there is nobody better qualified. This tutorial teaches how closeness and connectivity can be achieved with the right approach of empathy and tenderness. You will learn about leverage points and Goldilock’s curves. About respect towards your rope partner, and about humbleness.

The kemono shibari / 獣縛りconsists of two parts. It starts off by tying your partner like a deer, rendering her helpless and accessible. It shows how you can pose and expose your partner to inflict pleasure and arousal but also induce that special hazukashi / 恥ずかしい (shy, ashamed) feeling.

The second part of the progression is releasing the deer tie, applying a Yukimura-style gote / 後手, laying your partner sideways on the floor, then using one rope at the ankle to spread your partners legs. Depending on the height the ankle is fixed this will result in different head-spaces and aesthetics.

Take your time and experiment with the various poses and situations. This session is about enjoying each other rather than racing through the ties and be the first to finish it. Be sure to take care of your partner gently at all times.

This session is an adaptation from the original Yukimura-ryu / 雪村流 kemono shibari / 獣縛り. Grandmaster Yukimura Haruki is known for having elevated his caressing style of rope bondage into an art form.
